Case Description

Members of the 'Aidar' battalion, which is banned in the Russian Federation, are accused of violent seizure of power and participation in a terrorist organization. Many of the accused were captured in the first months of the "SVO. There were two women who were medical workers among the defendants. On September 13, 2024, Maria Mischenko and Lilia Prutyan were released as a result of a prisoner exchange between Russia and Ukraine. On October 17, 2025, the Southern District Military Court found the defendants guilty and sentenced Sergey Kalinchenko, Vitaly Gruzinov, and Roman Nedostup to 21 years, Nikolai Chuprin, Taras Radchenko, Semyon Zabairachny, Sergey Nikityuk, Alexander Taranets, and Vladislav Ermolinsky to 20 years in prison, Vladimir Makarenko and Igor Gayoha to 18 years, Andrey Sholik, Vyacheslav Baydyuk, and Vitaly Krokhalev to 16 years in prison, and Dmitry Fedchenko to 15 years. According to the court's decision, he was to serve his sentence in a strict regime colony. The cases against Maria Mischenko, Lilia Prutyan, and Yevgeny Pyatigortsev were separated into a separate proceeding by the court.
