Case Description
On August 16, 2023, in Magnitogorsk, Chelyabinsk Oblast, 33-year-old Gaziz Davletbaev was detained. A criminal case was opened against him for calls for terrorism. According to the investigation, under a post about the case of Alexei Nuriev and Roman Nasryev, who tried to set fire to the military registration desk in Bakal in the Sverdlovsk region, Gaziz wrote: "Men with a capital letter." Russia will be free. In the new Russia, they will be true heroes." The investigation interpreted this phrase as justification of terrorism. The court sent Davletbaev to the SIZO. During the investigation, the man was sent to the hospital for a month to undergo a psychiatric examination. On April 5, 2024, the Central District Military Court found Gaziz Davletbaev guilty and sentenced him to two years in a general regime colony. November 20, 2024, the Appellate Military Court upheld the verdict.
