Case Description
In Voronezh in January 2025, Artem Anokhin, a 32-year-old local resident and former employee of the Federal Penitentiary Service, was detained. He was accused of treason, participation in a terrorist organization, undergoing training to carry out sabotage, preparing for sabotage, as well as illegal manufacture and storage of explosives as part of an organized group. According to the investigation, in September 2022, Anokhin, being opposed to the special military operation being carried out, entered into cooperation with representatives of the Ukrainian special services and joined the 'Freedom of Russia' legion. According to their assignment, he manufactured a homemade explosive device, which he kept at home, and also prepared another device to damage a transportation infrastructure facility. In addition, he printed leaflets with false information about threats to energy facilities in Voronezh and carried out other assignments." The court placed the man in a pre-trial detention center. 18 December 2025, the 2nd Western Military District Court found Artem Anokhin guilty and sentenced him to 20 years in prison. During the first four years, he must serve in prison, and the remaining sentence in a strict regime correctional colony. He was also fined 1 million rubles, given a 2-year restriction of freedom, and stripped of his special rank of 'ensign of internal service'.
