Case Description
Constantine Zinovkin, a 33-year-old local resident, was abducted in occupied Melitopol on May 12, 2023. He went to the store for groceries, fifteen minutes after that, three men in balaclavas came to the apartment where Zinovkin's mother was alone, they opened the door themselves - with the keys that they took from Konstantin." "Without introducing themselves, the men told the mother that her son had been detained for "violating the regime, after which they searched the apartment. They completely trashed our room" — they took the system unit from the computer, all the money and documents, keys, and a hunting rifle. On that day, Zinovkin's mother was taken to the commandant's office, held there for a couple of hours, and then released. Konstantin himself never returned home. Relatives of Konstantin did not know what was happening to him for about two months. In June, two investigators came to Zinovkin's mother and informed her that Konstantin had been detained on suspicion of preparing a terrorist attack. Details of the charges were not disclosed. In response to an official request, Zinovkin's relatives were informed that Konstantin became a defendant in a criminal case, he was arrested on June 1, 2023, and placed in the pre-trial detention center No. 2 of the Federal Penitentiary Service of Russia for the Kherson region in Chongar. In March, it became known that Zinovkina was transferred to a pre-trial detention center in the occupied Mariupol. It later emerged that a criminal case was initiated against Zinovkin for treason, illegal possession of explosives and weapons, attempted terrorism, participation in a terrorist community, and aiding terrorist activities. Alexey and Grigory Semikopenko and Vladislav Vidlatsky, an 18-year-old student from Melitopol, are also involved in the case with him. It is known that Vildatsky was abducted from his parents' home in Melitopol on May 10, 2023, when he was with his girlfriend. Unknown people in civilian clothes and balaclavas broke into their house and searched it. The reason for the search was called the fact that not all family members have yet received Russian passports. The young man and woman were put black bags on their heads and taken away in an unknown direction. Through three days the girl, frightened and in a severe psychological state, was released, while Vladislav was taken away in an unknown direction. As a result, Russian security forces accused Vidlatsky of treason, participation in a terrorist community, illegal possession of explosives, and attempted terrorism resulting in death." The other two defendants in the case - brothers Alexei and Grigory - were accused of espionage. Grigory was also charged with participating in a terrorist community and attempting a terrorist attack that resulted in the death of a person. Details and dates of their detention are unknown. Alexey Semikopenko is known to have been abducted from his home in Melitopol, in the occupied Zaporizhzhia region. Formally, the arrest was formalized on March 28, 2023. The Russian investigation accused him of espionage.
