Case Description
In Mariupol, the occupied part of the Donetsk region, no later than April 2022, a 31-year-old citizen of Ukraine, a soldier of the Azov regiment of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Romanov Roman, fell into captivity to Russian soldiers. A criminal case was opened against him for participating in a terrorist community and undergoing training for the purpose of carrying out terrorist activities. The reason for the criminal prosecution was service in the ranks of the Armed Forces of Ukraine of the nationalist "Azov" battalion, recognized as a terrorist organization in Russia. On December 3, 2024, the Southern Military District Court found Roman Romanov guilty, the size of the punishment is unknown. The verdict was not appealed and entered into legal force.
