Case Description
In the Kursk region on April 20, 2025, during hostilities, 39-year-old citizen of Ukraine, soldier of the 225th separate assault regiment of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Roman Frizzpali, was taken prisoner by Russian servicemen. A criminal case was opened against him for committing a terrorist act by a group of persons by prior conspiracy, resulting in significant damage. According to the version of the Russian investigation, Frizzpali, being a soldier of the Ukrainian assault regiment, on April 20, 2025, on a Bradley armored personnel carrier as part of a unit, illegally crossed the state border of Russia and invaded the Sudzhansky district. On the orders of the command, he arrived at the village of Nikolayevo-Daryino and took up a firing position "in order to block and hold the settlement under armed control. 16 September 2025, the 2nd Western Military District Court found Roman Frizzpali guilty and sentenced him to 14 years imprisonment, with the first 4 years to be served in prison and the remainder in a strict regime penal colony. The verdict was not appealed and entered into legal force.
