Case Description
On April 14, 2022, in Kirov, security forces detained spouses Richard and Maria Rose in a case of 'fakes' about the Russian army motivated by political hatred. According to the investigation, they posted posts, photos, and videos of an "offensive and defamatory nature" about the Russian army, including about those killed in Bucha. 15 April, the October District Court of Kirov sent Richard into custody, while Maria was given a measure of restriction in the form of a ban on certain actions. Richard was charged with an additional article, justification of terrorism, in December. The reason for the new accusation was a post on social media: "The only way to stop Putin is to fuck him physically. The investigator considered the wording to be a call for an attack on the life of a state or public figure. On September 22, 2023, the Central Military District Court found Richard Rose guilty and sentenced him to eight years in a general regime colony. July 15, 2024, the Appellate Military Court left the sentence unchanged.
