Case Description
On 9 November 2023, Russian security forces detained 35-year-old local resident Nikolai Golubov in occupied Berdyansk, Zaporizhzhia region. A criminal case was opened against the man on charges of "calls for terrorism." The reason for the criminal prosecution was comments from February 23 and June 1, 2023, which Golubov allegedly posted on the social network VKontakte. According to the investigation, the comments justified the activities of the banned terrorist organizations 'Azov' and 'Legion of Freedom of Russia'. The measure of restraint chosen for Golubova is unknown. July 11, 2024, the Southern Military District Court found Nikolai Golubov guilty and sentenced him to five years in a general regime colony. October 31, 2024, the Appellate Military Court upheld the verdict.
