Case Description
On May 13, 2022, in Kemerovo, local 28-year-old resident Mikhail Sbeglov was detained. First, a protocol of an administrative offense was drawn up against him under the article on petty hooliganism. According to law enforcement officials, the man was swearing in public. On May 14, 2022, the Leninsky District Court of Kemerovo sentenced Sbeglov to administrative arrest for 5 days as punishment." 1. After serving his arrest, a criminal case was opened against a Kemerovo resident for attempted participation in an illegal armed formation. According to Sbeglov himself, the reason for the criminal prosecution was leaflets with the words 'No to war!', which were ultimately linked to the 'Freedom of Russia' legion. On May 18, 2022, the court sent Sbeglov into custody. On March 14, 2023, the Kemerovo Regional Court found Mikhail Sbeglov guilty and sentenced him to 4.5 years in prison, of which he must serve 2 years and 1 month in prison, and the remaining term in a strict regime colony. 23 June 2023, the Fifth Appellate Court of General Jurisdiction left the verdict unchanged.
