Case Description
FSB officers detained a 51-year-old local resident, radio amateur and beekeeper Kirill Akimov in Saransk, Republic of Mordovia, in July 2022. He was accused of publicly justifying terrorism. According to law enforcement, Akimov created his own radio wave, through which he went on air under the pseudonym 'Mordovian Farmer'. According to the investigation, the man "incited Ukrainians and residents of Europe to commit violent acts against supporters of the current Russian President's system of governance, as well as to oppose the head of state himself. There were only two broadcasts - on February 28 and March 14. At the time of the investigation, the court sent Akimov to a pre-trial detention center. 12 April 2023, the Central Military District Court found Kirill Akimov guilty and sentenced him to six years in a general regime penal colony.
