Case Description

In August 2022, it became known that criminal cases were opened against Alexei Navalny's associates for spreading knowingly false information about the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation and publicly justifying terrorism. The reason for the criminal prosecution was statements made on the air of "Popular Politics. Press secretary of Alexei Navalny Kira Yarmysh is accused of spreading "fakes" about the Russian army by a group of persons motivated by political hatred. In March 2022, Yarmysh was put on the wanted list in connection with another criminal case - about incitement to violate sanitary restrictions introduced due to the coronavirus pandemic. In January 2024, the Basmanny District Court of Moscow issued an in absentia arrest warrant for Kira Yarmysh. The court ruled to count the term of arrest from the moment of extradition to the territory of the Russian Federation, or from the moment of her detention on the territory of the Russian Federation.
