Case Description
In early June 2023, the FSB detained three local residents in the Voronezh region - 35-year-old Ruslana Vlasova and Alexander Filimonov, and 30-year-old Ivan Ignatov, who, according to the special services, passed information about Russian military facilities and transport infrastructure to the Ukrainian movement "Right Sector. A case of treason was brought against them. In a video published by the FSB, one of the young men, whose face is hidden, speaks to the camera, saying that he was recruited via the internet in 2022, when he held the position of company commander in the volunteer Ukrainian corps, which is part of the "Right Sector." According to him, since the beginning of the war he has 'carried out assignments' to recruit residents of the Voronezh region. Another detained person (his face is also hidden) says that he also recruited people. I realized that my recruitment was carried out to carry out actions in the interests of Ukraine against the security of the Russian Federation, he says. According to him, in May 2023, he was given the task of setting fire to relay cabinets and blowing up industrial facilities in the Voronezh region. The third detainee also speaks about recruitment in the video, repeating the same wording about how he "realized that his recruitment was being carried out in the interests of Ukraine. Alexandra Ignatova is accused of communicating via Telegram with Oleg Butusin, who is fighting on the side of Ukraine. Information is available that all three were subjected to torture after their arrest. On February 12, 2025, the Voronezh Regional Court found the defendants guilty and sentenced Ivan Ignatov and Ruslan Vlasov to 14 years in prison, and Alexander Filimonov to 18 years in prison. The court also imposed restrictions on freedom for all three for 1.5 years and a ban for 1.5 years on administering websites, forums, and chats." "28 October 2025, the First Appellate Court of General Jurisdiction left the sentences of Vlasov and Ignatov unchanged, while Filimonov's sentence was extended by six months of imprisonment.
