In the end, nothing caught fire, and the arsonist fled. In June of the same year, local resident Igor Kupich was detained on charges of arson. During the searches, security forces allegedly seized an anti-tank mine and photographs of a railway bridge. The investigation claims that in addition to arson of the military enlistment office, the Crimean wanted to blow up railway tracks, for which he had previously purchased an anti-tank mine and photographed a railway bridge to determine a hidden place for planting an explosive device. A criminal case was initiated against Kupich for attempted sabotage and illegal trafficking in explosive devices. The court sent him into custody. On March 30, 2023, the Supreme Court of the Republic of Crimea found Igor Kupich guilty and sentenced him to 10 years in prison and a fine of 70 thousand. rubles.
