Case Description
In Volgograd in October 2023, a criminal case was opened against 21-year-old student Daniil Vodolagin for spreading "fakes" about the Russian army motivated by political hatred. According to the investigation, in early April 2023, Vodolagin published an anti-war post that allegedly contained 'unreliable information' about the actions of the Russian army. The student was placed in a pre-trial detention center during the investigation. July 15, 2024, the Sovetsky District Court of Volgograd found Daniil Vodolagin guilty and sentenced him to five years in a general regime colony. The court also ruled to confiscate his computer and phone in favor of the state. On September 17, 2024, the Volgograd Regional Court left the verdict in force.
