Case Description
In the occupied Mariupol, no later than April 8, 2022, Russian servicemen took prisoner 36-year-old serviceman of the 501st battalion of the 36th brigade of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Anton Baydrakov. Training for the purpose of carrying out terrorist activities, violent seizure of power, murder, and cruel treatment of the civilian population were the charges brought against him. According to the Russian investigation, from July to August 2021, Baydarkov 'underwent training in combat skills' with the aim of 'violent seizure of power and changing the constitutional order' in the self-proclaimed DNR—the part of the Donetsk region of Ukraine occupied by Russia. After that, in December 2021, he was sent to serve in the DNR as part of a brigade of the Marine Corps of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. March 2022, when Russia began a full-scale invasion of Ukraine, being part of his unit" in Mariupol, Baydrakov illegally detained a local resident on the territory of an industrial zone, and on March 27 killed her for refusing to go out with him to another room. 8 April 2022, the RT TV channel published an "exclusive" - an interview in which Baydrakov, with traces of beating on his face, makes a "confession" on camera: "I say: 'Let's go nicely...' To which she says: 'No, I'm not going anywhere.'", I took off the safety and fired an AK at her. On December 13, 2023, the Southern District Military Court found Anton Baydrakov guilty and sentenced him to 18 years of imprisonment, with the first 3 years to be served in prison, and the remainder of the sentence in a strict regime correctional colony. The verdict was not appealed and entered into legal force.
