Case Description
Andrey Riguts, a 39-year-old local resident, was charged in the Irkutsk region no later than July 2024. He was accused of public calls for terrorist and extremist activities. According to the investigation, Rigut, being opposed to the "special military operation, posted comments in public internet communities on the Telegram messenger and on the Youtube video hosting service." They contained calls for violent actions against military personnel of the RF Armed Forces and law enforcement officers, as well as for missile strikes on buildings, structures and places of mass gathering of people on the territory of Russia. During the investigation, the defendants in the case were placed under house arrest. On April 2, 2025, the 2nd Eastern Military Court found Andrey Riguts guilty and sentenced him to 4 years in prison in a general regime colony. He was also prohibited for 3 years from engaging in activities related to publicly posting comments and administering internet sites. August 13, 2025, the Appellate Military Court changed the verdict, details are unknown.
