Zanchuk Aleksandr Yurevich (Zanchuk Oleksandr Yuriyovich)

On August 23, 2024, during hostilities in the Kursk region, Ukrainian citizens, riflemen of the 92nd Separate Assault Brigade of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Maksim Lebedev, Sergey Butenko, Alexey Evseev, and Aleksandr Zanchuk, were taken prisoner by Russian servicemen. Criminal charges were brought against them for committing a terrorist act by a group of persons by prior conspiracy, resulting in significant damage. According to the Russian investigation, on the morning of August 23, 2024, Lebedev, Butenko, Evseev, and Zanchuk, as part of a group of Ukrainian servicemen, illegally invaded the territory of the Sudzhansky district on armored personnel carriers. They proceeded towards the village of Spalnoe, where observation and fire positions were equipped in the forest belt to block and keep it under armed control, and the roads were mined. Under the threat of using weapons, they "occupied private houses, intimidated the peaceful population, prohibited movement, hindered evacuation, and opened fire on Russian servicemen and local residents. On April 1, 2025, the 2nd Western Military District Court found the defendants guilty and sentenced Maxim Lebedev to 14 years in prison, Sergey Butenko, Alexey Evseev, and Alexander Zanchuk to 15 years in prison each. They all must serve the first 3 years in prison, and the remaining part in a strict regime correctional colony. The verdict was not appealed and entered into legal force.
