Case Description
On August 30, 2024, in the Kursk region, Ukrainian Armed Forces servicemen Alexander Manyko and Yuri Radchenko from the 95th Separate Airborne Assault Brigade were captured. Later, a criminal case was opened against them for committing a terrorist act by a group of persons by prior conspiracy, resulting in property damage. According to the Russian investigation, in mid-August 2024, Man'ko and Radchenko, having with them AK-74 assault rifles and explosive devices, illegally crossed the state border of the Russian Federation. Being in the Sudzhansky district of the Kursk region, the defendants allegedly intimidated the local population, occupied private houses, prohibited the movement of civilians, and repeatedly opened fire on Russian servicemen and civilians. During the investigation, they were placed in "prisoner of war accommodation facilities. No later than February 4, 2025, the 2nd Western Military District Court found the defendants guilty and sentenced Aleksandr Manyko to 15 years in a strict regime colony, with the first 5 years to be served in prison, and the remainder in a strict regime correctional colony, and Yuriy Radchenko to 17 years, with the first 5 years to be served in prison, and the remainder in a strict regime correctional colony. The verdict was not appealed and entered into legal force.
