Case Description
1. In Yakutsk, at the end of November 2023, 32-year-old local resident Yan Borisov was detained. A criminal case was initiated against him for calls to terrorism. The reason for the criminal prosecution was a comment that the man published on the instructions of the so-called "Freedom of Russia" legion. Details are unknown. On November 30, 2023, the Yakutsk City Court placed the man in a pre-trial detention center. Later, the charges against Borisov were toughened - the article on state treason, participation in the activities of a terrorist organization, undergoing training for the purpose of carrying out terrorist activities and a terrorist act were added. Details of the charges are also unknown. On May 22, 2025, the 1st Eastern Military District Court found Yan Borisov guilty and sentenced him to 18 years in prison. For the first five years, Borisov will have to spend time in prison, the rest - in a strict regime colony. The court also banned him from making publications on the Internet for 2 years.
