Case Description
FSB officers detained Vyacheslav Mikhalev, a 30-year-old resident of Sovetskaya Gavan district, in Khabarovsk Krai at the end of May 2023. According to law enforcement officials, Mikhalyov, as a member of the Legion "Freedom of Russia, was preparing sabotage and had already purchased equipment for this purpose. One of Vyacheslav's alleged targets was the railway tracks on the section of Komsomolsk-on-Amur — Sovetskaya Gavan. A criminal case was opened against Mikhalyov for "participation in the activities of a terrorist organization" and "confidential cooperation with a foreign state, international or foreign organization to the detriment of Russia." "On January 25, 2024, the 1st Eastern District Military Court found Vyacheslav Mikhalev guilty and sentenced him to 8 years in prison, the first 3 years of which he will spend in prison, the rest - in a strict regime penal colony. The verdict was not appealed and entered into legal force.
