Case Description
In the Samara region, no later than the end of January 2024 (the exact date is unknown), a main case about "fakes" about the Russian army was initiated against a local 48-year-old resident, lawyer Vyacheslav Bunakov. The reason for criminal prosecution was a post on VKontakte published in 2022 about the deaths of people at the railway station in Kramatorsk and about missile and bomb strikes on Severodonetsk and Lisichansk. On May 8, 2024, the Krasnoyarsk District Court of the Samara Region found Vyacheslav Bunakov guilty and sentenced him to ten months of corrective labor with a deduction of 20% of his salary to the state. On July 25, 2024, the Samara Regional Court released Bunakov from punishment due to the expiration of the statute of limitations.
