Case Description
On July 24, 2024, in the village of Orlyanka in the occupied part of the Zaporizhzhia region, 19-year-old local resident, Ukrainian citizen Vladislav Bughar was abducted. For several months, nothing was known about him. On January 17, 2025, a criminal case was opened against Bughar for aiding terrorist activity. The reason for the criminal prosecution was money transfers to Ukraine: according to the Russian investigation, in January 2025, Bughar, while in the Zaporizhzhia region, repeatedly transferred funds to bank accounts of 'one of the Ukrainian militarized nationalist organizations' using an online banking service. The man was placed in a pre-trial detention center for the duration of the investigation. On July 10, 2025, the Southern Military Court found Vladislav Bughar guilty and sentenced him to 9 years in a strict regime penal colony, with the first 3 years to be served in prison. On December 2, 2025, the Appellate Military Court left the verdict unchanged.
