Case Description
In Mariupol, the occupied part of Donetsk Oblast, no later than the end of March 2022, 56-year-old Ukrainian citizen and serviceman of the Azov Regiment of the Ukrainian Armed Forces Vladimir Zhdamarov was taken prisoner by Russian military personnel. A criminal case was opened against him for participating in a terrorist community and undergoing training for the purpose of carrying out terrorist activities. The reason for the criminal prosecution was service in the ranks of the Armed Forces of Ukraine of the nationalist "Azov" battalion, recognized as a terrorist organization in Russia.
