Case Description
On August 22, 2024, in Vologda, a 42-year-old local resident, a worker at "Russian Post, Vladimir Skvortsov, was detained. A protocol on an administrative offense was drawn up against the man under the article on the manufacture and demonstration of extremist symbols. According to the protocols, on that day, being at his workplace in the premises of "Russian Post", Skvortsov manufactured and printed on a printer the symbols of the organization Legion "Freedom of Russia. On August 23, 2024, Judge Elena Gubina of the Vologda City Court of the Vologda Region sentenced Skvortsov to 7 days of administrative arrest under a protocol for displaying prohibited symbols. While the man was serving his arrest, a criminal case was opened against him for participating in the activities of a terrorist organization and financing extremist activities. According to the investigation, Skvortsov transferred 1100 rubles to FBK in 2021. Later, in the summer of 2024, Skvortsov allegedly contacted a representative of the 'Freedom of Russia' legion on Telegram, filled out an application form for joining, and received an assignment to distribute leaflets. It is claimed that he printed 40 copies on a work computer at a branch of "Pochta Rossii" and pasted some of them around Vologda. He was detained before he had time to send the photo and distribute the remaining leaflets. The man was placed in a pre-trial detention center. The second protocol on an administrative offense - under the article on the manufacture of prohibited symbols - was considered by the Vologda City Court of the Vologda Region on November 21, 2024, when Skvortsov was already in custody, and imposed a fine of 1 thousand. rubles. on May 26, 2025, the 1st Western District Military Court found Vladimir Skvortsov guilty and sentenced him to 12 years in a strict regime colony, three of which are in prison.
