Case Description
In the occupied part of the Luhansk region, no later than August 2024, 59-year-old Ukrainian citizen and Ukrainian Armed Forces soldier of the Aidar Regiment, Vladimir Savchuk, was taken prisoner by Russian soldiers. A criminal case was opened against him for participating in a terrorist community. According to the Russian investigation, in August 2018, Savchuk voluntarily joined the ranks of the Ukrainian Armed Forces' assault battalion Aydar, which is a terrorist community, performed the duties of a grenade launcher, taking direct part in hostilities on the territory of the LPR. On November 28, 2024, the Southern Military District Court found Vladimir Savchuk guilty and sentenced him to imprisonment, the size of the punishment is unknown. The verdict was not appealed and entered into legal force.
