Case Description
On July 25, 2022, in the Donetsk region, a 48-year-old citizen of Ukraine, a former serviceman of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, was abducted. He was accused of participating in the activities of a terrorist organization and sent to a pre-trial detention center. According to the Russian investigation, in July 2016, after completing his military service under conscription, Linnik, under mobilization, joined the assault battalion "Aidar" as part of a terrorist community and began serving as a senior turner. He was provided with firearms and ammunition, and was engaged in repairing and maintaining military equipment that was used by the terrorist community. At the same time, in December 2016, the leadership of the "Aidar" battalion unilaterally terminated the contract with Linnik due to "violation of the conditions of military service" by him." 20 December 2023, the Southern District Military Court found Vladimir Linnik guilty and sentenced him to 6 years in a general regime colony. The verdict was not appealed and entered into legal force.
