Case Description
In the occupied Berdyansk in the Zaporizhzhia region in July 2022, two local residents, citizens of Ukraine - 52-year-old Vladimir Krivtsov and 46-year-old Vitaly Rastorguev - were abducted. For several months, nothing was known about their fate. In December of the same year, the FSB reported that criminal cases had been initiated against Ukrainians for an attempted act of international terrorism. According to the version of Russian security forces, Rastorguev in mid-July 2022 in one of the courtyards on Shevchenko Street in Berdyansk planted a homemade explosive device under the service car of the "military-civilian administration" of the city, on which its leaders moved, including pro-Russian "mayor" Alexander Saulenko. A homemade explosive device, equivalent in power to 2 kg of explosives, was planned to be remotely activated near the Mayak House of Culture in the Slobodka microdistrict during a youth forum in Berdyansk, but the device ultimately did not detonate. The investigation called Krivtsov an accomplice of Rastorguev, and they allegedly participated in the 'Resistance' movement created by SBU employee Yevgeny Astakhov. December 30, 2022, the Kyiv District Court of Simferopol, Republic of Crimea, sent Ukrainians to detention. On April 18, 2024, the Southern District Military Court found the defendants guilty and sentenced Vladimir Krivtsov to 11 years and Vitaly Rastorguev to 12 years in a strict regime colony. On November 5, 2024, the Appellate Military Court left the verdict unchanged.
