Case Description
In the Kursk region on December 21, 2024, during hostilities, a 40-year-old citizen of Ukraine, a military serviceman of military unit A-3425 (61st separate mechanized brigade) of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, rifleman soldier Vladimir Dmysh, was taken prisoner by Russian military personnel. A criminal case was opened against him for committing a terrorist act by a group of persons by prior conspiracy, resulting in significant damage. According to the Russian investigation, on November 2, 2024, Dmysh, as part of a unit, illegally invaded the territory of Russia, where he took up an observation and fire position near the village of Goncharovka in the Sudzhansky district of the Kursk region and "opened fire on Russian servicemen and civilians." From November 5, he performed similar tasks near the village of Kurilovka, and from November 19 - near the village of Cherkasskaya Konopelka. On July 9, 2025, the 2nd Western Military District Court found Vladimir Dmysh guilty and sentenced him to 16 years in prison, the first 5 years he must serve in prison, and the remaining part - in a strict regime correctional colony. The verdict was not appealed and entered into legal force.
