В Абакане не позднее декабря 2024 года возбудили уголовное дело о содействии террористической деятельности против Владимира Балмаева. Подробности обвинения неизвестны.
На время следствия фигуранта дела поместили под стражу.
6 мая 2025 года 2-й Восточный окружной военный суд признал Владимира Балмаева виновным и приговорил его к лишению свободы в колонии строгого режима с тюремным сроком, размер наказания неизвестен.
10 сентября 2025 года Апелляционный военный суд оставил приговор без изменения.
