Case Description

On September 11, 2024, in the Kursk region, three servicemen of the 91st separate anti-tank division of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, Ochimovsky, Nechiporuk, and Gonoboblef, were taken prisoner. Later, a criminal case was opened against them for committing a terrorist act by a group of persons by prior conspiracy, resulting in grave consequences. According to the Russian investigation, on August 12, 2024, Ochimovsky, Nechiporuk, and Gonoboblov, armed with AK-74 assault rifles, portable Javelin anti-tank missile systems, and explosive devices, illegally crossed the state border of the Russian Federation. On the territory of the Sudzhansky and Korenevsky districts of the Kursk region, the defendants allegedly carried out intimidation and terrorization of the local population, under threat of using weapons, they occupied private houses, prohibited the movement of civilians, and repeatedly opened fire on both Russian military personnel and civilians. The servicemen were placed in "prisoner of war detention facilities. No later than February 6, 2025, the 2nd Western Military District Court found the defendants guilty and sentenced Konstantin Ochimovsky to 15 years, with the first 3 years to be served in prison, and the remainder in a strict regime correctional colony, Alexei Nechiporuk and Vitaly Gonoboblova to 16 years of imprisonment each, with the first 3 years to be served in prison, and the remainder in a strict regime correctional colony. The verdict was not appealed and entered into legal force.
