Case Description
In the city of Usolye-Sibirskoye, Irkutsk Oblast, no later than November 2024, a criminal case was initiated against 45-year-old local resident Viktor Konovalov for public calls for terrorism and public calls for activities aimed against state security. According to the investigation, Konovalov, being opposed to the political course of the Russian Federation and the special military operation conducted by the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation, posted posts in Telegram containing propaganda of the activities of the organizations "Legion of Freedom of Russia" and "Russian Volunteer Corps." 2. The chosen measure of restraint is unknown. On April 7, 2025, the 2nd Eastern Military District Court found Viktor Konovalov guilty and sentenced him to 7 years in a general regime colony with deprivation of the right to engage in electronic correspondence and send messages in messengers using the Internet for 3 years and with restriction of freedom for 1 year 6 months. On July 7, 2025, the Appellate Military Court changed the verdict, details are unknown.
