Case Description
On May 11, 2025, during hostilities in the Kursk region, a 43-year-old Ukrainian citizen, a rifleman of the 425th Separate Assault Regiment "Skala" of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Vasily Ferendovich, was taken prisoner by Russian servicemen. A criminal case was opened against him for committing a terrorist act by a group of persons by prior conspiracy, resulting in significant damage. According to the Russian investigation, Ferendovich, being a shooter in the Ukrainian "Skala" regiment, in the morning of May 11, 2025, as part of a group of fellow servicemen in a pickup truck, illegally crossed the Russian state border and participated in the invasion of Glukhov district to block and maintain control over the settlement of Novy Put." "Being armed with an assault rifle and grenades, he "held a firing position, participated in clashes with Russian troops and intimidated the civilian population. On October 14, 2025, the 2nd Western Military District Court found Vasily Ferendovich guilty and sentenced him to 15 years in prison, with the first 3 years to be served in prison, and the remaining part of the sentence in a strict regime correctional colony. The verdict was not appealed and entered into legal force.
