Case Description
In the Kursk region on August 7, 2024, during hostilities, Ukrainian citizens, servicemen of the 82nd separate airborne assault brigade of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, 33-year-old platoon commander Vadim Godovany and 36-year-old shooter Konstantin Netkov, were taken prisoner by Russian military personnel. Criminal charges were brought against them for committing a terrorist act by a group of persons by prior conspiracy, resulting in significant damage. According to Russian investigators, on the evening of August 6, 2024, Godovaniy, who held the position of platoon commander, and Netkov, who served as a rifleman in the Ukrainian airborne assault brigade, illegally crossed the Russian state border on the armored personnel carrier "Roshal Senator. Armed with Czech machine guns and grenades, they invaded the Sudzhansky district and participated in the blockade of the village of Sverdlikovo. Being on firing positions in the forest belt, the defendants "resisted Russian military personnel and intimidated the civilian population. Until the verdict was delivered, the defendants were held in custody. On October 1, 2025, the 2nd Western Military District Court (the name and surname of the judge are unknown) found Vadim Godovany and Konstantin Netkov guilty. The court sentenced each of them to 16 years in prison. The first 3 years they must spend in prison, and the remaining part of the term - in a strict regime correctional colony. The verdict was not appealed and entered into legal force.
