Case Description
On January 17, 2018, in the occupied Donetsk region, a serviceman of the 58th Separate Motorized Infantry Brigade named after. Stanislav Panchenko, hetman of Ivan Vyhovsky, was taken prisoner. Later, a criminal case was opened against him for illegal arms trafficking, illegal border crossing, violent seizure of power, and undergoing training for the purpose of carrying out terrorist activities. The details of the charges are unknown. On October 3, 2019, the Supreme Court of the Donetsk Republic found Stanislav Panchenko guilty and sentenced him to 17 years in a strict regime colony. In the appeal, the sentence was mitigated by 4 months. On August 15, 2025, Panchenko was released as part of another prisoner exchange between Ukraine and Russia.
