Case Description
Stanislav Grudnenko, a 35-year-old resident of the city of Tokmak in the occupied Zaporizhzhia region of Ukraine, was detained on June 12, 2023. A criminal case was opened against him for "participation in a terrorist community" and "preparation for a terrorist act. According to the Russian investigation, Grudnenko, allegedly "being a member of a terrorist community acting against the interests of Russia and the conducted 'special military operation,' with the aim of destabilizing the activities of military personnel of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation" collected information about the deployment of Russian troops in Tokmak. Later, the curators allegedly passed him the coordinates of the cache where the homemade explosive device was hidden. Being a Ukrainian serviceman, the investigation claims, Grudenko had knowledge in the field of mine-explosive business. He chose three targets for a potential explosion, where Russian military personnel were located, but he was unable to carry out his 'plan' because. he was detained and sent to a pre-trial detention center. June 17, 2024, the Southern Military District Court found Stanislav Grudnenko guilty and sentenced him to 5 years in prison, with the first 3 years to be served in prison and the remaining time in a strict regime penal colony. On November 11, 2024, the Appellate Military Court changed the verdict: the actions of Grudnenko were reclassified, and he was sentenced to 6 years and 2 months of imprisonment, with the first 3 years to be served in prison and the remaining part in a strict regime correctional colony. March 19, 2025, the Appellate Military Court left this sentence unchanged."
