Case Description
On November 9, 2024, at the earliest, in the village of Yasnaya Polyana in the occupied part of the Kherson region, 43-year-old Ukrainian citizen, Ukrainian military serviceman Sergey Yatskov, fell into captivity of Russian soldiers. He was accused of participating in the activities of a terrorist organization and undergoing training for the purpose of carrying out terrorist activities. According to the version of the FSB of Russia for the Eastern Military District and the DNR, on October 22, 2024, a man voluntarily became a militant of the "Crimean-Tatar Volunteer Battalion named after. Nomana Chelebidzhikhan, recognized as terrorist in Russia, and took part in hostilities from October 27 to November 9, 2024, in the area of the villages of Mirnoye and Shakhtorskoye in the Velikonovoselkovskoye District of the DNR. August 22, 2025, the Southern District Military Court found Sergey Yatskov guilty and sentenced him to 20 years in a strict regime colony, including the first 3 years in prison. The verdict was not appealed and entered into legal force.
