Case Description
On April 8, 2022, in Belarus, border guards detained Sergei Ulushonov, a resident of Krasnoyarsk, after which the detained person was handed over to the FSB of Russia. It is claimed that the man tried to reach Ukraine via Minsk. He had previously been to the Belarusian capital. A criminal case was opened against Ulushonov for preparing to participate in an armed formation on the territory of a foreign state. According to the investigation, in the spring of 2022, a resident of Krasnoyarsk decided to fight on the side of one of the Ukrainian national battalions, having studied "pro-Ukrainian information websites. On April 3, 2022, Ulushonov flew to Minsk, spoke with a representative of the Security Service of Ukraine, who explained to him how to illegally cross the Ukrainian-Belarusian border. The man was placed in custody for the duration of the investigation. On December 8, 2022, the Krasnoyarsk Regional Court found Sergey Ulukshonov guilty and sentenced him to 4 years and 8 months in a strict regime colony with a 1-year restriction of freedom. The verdict was not appealed and entered into legal force.
