В Казани не позднее июля 2023 года задержали местного жителя Сергея Новикова. Его обвинили в участии в террористическом сообществе.
По версии силовиков, с 25 апреля 2023 года Новиков участвовал в легионе «Свобода России», который воюет на стороне Украины. Мужчина якобы «изготавливал технические средства для совершения нападения на различные объекты инфраструктуры».
На время следствия фигуранта дела поместили под стражу.
