Case Description
In the Kursk region on March 8, 2025, during combat operations, a 29-year-old Ukrainian citizen, a soldier of the 80th Separate Airborne Assault Brigade of the Ukrainian armed formations, 30-year-old shooter Sergey Moshkivskyi, was taken prisoner by Russian military personnel. A criminal case was opened against him for committing a terrorist act by a group of persons by prior conspiracy, resulting in significant damage. According to the Russian investigation, from December 2024 to March 2025, Moshkievskii twice illegally crossed the state border of Russia in the Kursk region as part of combat groups. Near the village of Cherkasskoye Porechnoye in the Sudzhansky district, he "held equipped observation and fire positions, intimidated civilians, prohibited them from moving freely, and hindered evacuation." On October 2, 2025, the 2nd Western Military District Court found Sergey Moshkievskii guilty and sentenced him to 18 years of imprisonment, the first 3 years to be served in prison, and the remaining part of the sentence in a strict regime correctional colony. The verdict was not appealed and entered into legal force.
