Case Description
In the occupied Kherson region, on September 6, 2023, 25-year-old local resident, citizen of Ukraine and Russia Sergey Kryzhanovsky was detained. He was accused of espionage. According to the version of the Russian security forces, in January 2023 Kryzhanovsky, having Ukrainian citizenship, voluntarily collected information about the movement and deployment of Russian servicemen in the region. He transmitted data to Ukrainian special services through internet messengers. In April 2023, Kryzhanovsky accepted Russian citizenship. During the investigation, the young man was placed in a pre-trial detention center. On or before March 7, 2024, the Kherson Regional Court found Sergey Krizhanovskiy guilty and sentenced him to 11 years and 6 months imprisonment to be served in a strict regime penal colony. There is no information about appealing the verdict.
