Case Description
1. In Birobidzhan, a theater worker and journalist of the state television and radio company "Bira" Sergey Kornilovsky was detained. On February 10, 2024, a search was conducted at his home. Kornilovsky was accused of justifying terrorism. The reason for the criminal prosecution was a Facebook post in 2022 on the topic of mobilization. On February 12, 2024, the Birobidzhan District Court of the Jewish Autonomous Region chose arrest as a preventive measure against the journalist. On May 8, 2024, the 1st Eastern Military District Court found Sergey Kornilovsky guilty and sentenced him to two and a half years of imprisonment in a general regime colony. The verdict was not appealed and entered into force.
