Case Description
On 17 July 2023, in Blagoveshchensk, near the Ignatyevo airport building, 37-year-old local resident Sergey Chunosov was detained. Three men in reflective work vests approached him, knocked him to the ground, and then put a bag over his head. Chunosov was taken to the police station, where a protocol on an administrative offense was drawn up against him under the article on failure to comply with a lawful order of an employee of law enforcement agencies. According to the protocol, Chunosov resisted arrest, 'attempting to leave on a bus towards the plane.' FSB officers gave testimony against the man in court. On July 17, 2023, Judge Viktoriya Viskulova of the Blagoveshchensk City Court of the Amur Region sentenced Chunosov to 15 days of administrative arrest. On July 25, 2023, a criminal case was opened against Chunosov for attempted state treason. According to the FSB's version, Sergey was planning to fly to Moscow 'for subsequent service in the RDK in Ukraine' in order to 'fight against Russian authorities by armed means.'", The court sent him to a pre-trial detention center for the duration of the investigation. On June 25, 2024, the Amur Regional Court found Sergey Chunosov guilty and sentenced him to six years in a strict regime colony. The verdict was not appealed and entered into legal force.
