Case Description
In the Kursk region on February 11, 2025, during hostilities, a 46-year-old citizen of Ukraine, a serviceman of military unit A-0281 (95th separate assault brigade) of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, a machine gunner, senior soldier Sergey Andreev, was taken prisoner by Russian servicemen. A criminal case was opened against him for committing a terrorist act by a group of persons by prior conspiracy, resulting in significant damage. According to the Russian investigation, on November 7, 2024, Andreyev, armed with an AK-74 assault rifle with ammunition for it, as well as hand grenades, as part of a unit illegally invaded the territory of the Russian Federation, after which he took part in the "illegal armed blockade" of the village of Pogrebki and the khutor of Naydenov in the Sudzhansky district of the Kursk region. Moreover, he occupied observation and fire positions in the forest belt near the khutor of Naydyonov in the Sudzhansky District of the Kursk Region, from which he opened fire on Russian servicemen and civilians. 17 July 2025, the 2nd Western Military District Court found Sergey Andreev guilty and sentenced him to 15 years imprisonment, with the first 3 years to be served in prison and the remainder in a strict regime penal colony. The verdict was not appealed and entered into legal force.
