Case Description
In early May 2024, Russian law enforcement officers detained a local 20-year-old resident, a former operator of the Zaporizhzhia NPP, Ruslan Sirota, in the occupied Zaporizhzhia region. He was accused of justifying terrorism. The reason for the criminal prosecution was a comment in one of the Ukrainian Telegram channels. The nuclear power plant worker allegedly commented on the assassination attempt on the former head of the occupation administration of the village of Akimovka, Maxim Zubarev: "What wonderful news, we should drink to that." 4. Glory to Ukraine! Glory to the Ukrainian nation and fuck the Russian Federation. No information was provided about the choice of a preventive measure. On June 27, 2024, the Southern District Military Court found Ruslan Sirotin guilty, the size of the punishment is unknown. The verdict was not appealed and entered into legal force.
