Rogoznyy Ruslan Valerevich (Rogozniy Ruslan Valeriyovich)

In Mariupol, the occupied part of the Donetsk region, no later than the end of April 2022, a 39-year-old citizen of Ukraine, a military serviceman of the Azov regiment of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Ruslan Rogozny, fell into captivity to Russian servicemen. He was accused of murder committed by an organized group on grounds of political and ideological hatred, as well as of cruel treatment of the civilian population. According to the investigation, in April 2022, Rogozny was on a combat position in a multi-story building in Mariupol and received an order to kill a civilian via radio communication. Following orders, he shot the man with an assault rifle, causing him to die on the spot. On 17 November 2023, the Supreme Court of the Donetsk People's Republic found Sergey Rogozny guilty and sentenced him to 25 years in a strict regime penal colony." There is no information about appealing the verdict. Later, a criminal case was opened against Rogozny for "participation in a terrorist community" and "receiving training for the purpose of carrying out terrorist activities." The reason for the criminal prosecution was service in the ranks of the Armed Forces of Ukraine of the nationalist "Azov" battalion, recognized as a terrorist organization in Russia. On August 2, 2024, the Southern District Military Court found Ruslan Rogov guilty. The sentence is unknown. It was not appealed and entered into force.
