Case Description
On June 7, 2024, in Enerhodar, in the occupied Zaporizhzhia region, Russian security forces arrested 53-year-old Ukrainian citizen with forced Russian citizenship, radio and television engineer of the Center for Dispatching and Technological Management of Power Systems of the Zaporizhzhia NPP, Roman Lavrik, allegedly for violating the curfew. For a long time there was no contact with the man, his whereabouts were unknown. In March 2025, it became known that Lavrik was in the pre-trial detention center-2 in Mariupol. He was accused of treason. According to the Ukrainian, the reason for the criminal prosecution was that he is a Ukrainian, communicated with children who live in the territory controlled by Ukraine, and two money transfers in the amount of 1,500 hryvnias and 3,800 rubles. It is unknown exactly where Lavrik was transferring the money. On October 15, 2025, the Zaporizhzhia Regional Court found Ruslan Lavrik guilty and sentenced him to 16 years in a strict regime colony and 1 year of restricted freedom.
