Case Description
On 11 October 2022, in protest against Russia's invasion of Ukraine, Roman Nasryev and Alexey Nuriev attempted to set fire to the military registration desk in the building of the local administration. Back then, only a small fragment of linoleum was damaged and no one was hurt. A few hours later, both of them were detained and charged with "damaging property, but later the charge was reclassified to "terrorist act" and "training for the purpose of carrying out terrorist activities" was added." Roman did not deny his participation in the arson in court, but spoke out against the accusations of "terrorism" and "training for the purpose of carrying out terrorist activities, drawing the court's attention to the fact that absolutely anyone can throw a bottle with an incendiary mixture. On April 12, 2023, the Central Military District Court found Alexei Nuriev and Roman Nasryev guilty and sentenced each to 19 years in prison. On August 28, 2024, the Appellate Military Court left the sentence in force.
