Case Description
In Pskov, criminal cases were opened against two prisoners serving their sentences in the local correctional colony, Vladimir Konovalov and Roman Morozov, for public calls for terrorism and "fakes" about the Russian army motivated by political hatred, committed by a group of persons by prior conspiracy. Konovalov was also charged with calls for terrorism. The date of the initiation of the case is unknown. According to the investigation, Morozov conspired with another convicted person, Vladimir Konovalov, with the aim of spreading 'fakes' about the Russian army among other prisoners. Morozov, according to the prosecution, was supposed to 'study video clips' posted on Ukrainian news and propaganda channels' with 'fakes' and publish them." In turn, Konovalov was supposed to download these videos and show them to other convicts. The men were able to send two videos to the colony. Konovalov, from October 1 to 31, 2022, while in a correctional colony detachment, in the presence of at least five prisoners, stated the correctness of the actions and views of the "Azov" organization: he said that the "Azov" members were right in killing and torturing prisoners of war soldiers... On December 25, 2024, the 1st Western Military District Court found Vladimir Konovalov guilty and sentenced him to 5 years in prison. As a result of the combined sentences, the court sentenced Konovalov to a final punishment in the form of 7 years in a strict regime penal colony and a fine of 20 thousand. rubles. Also, the court deprived the man of the right to administer websites and channels on the "Internet" network for 3 years. The verdict was not appealed and entered into legal force. On March 13, 2025, the Pskov City Court of the Pskov Region found Roman Morozov guilty and sentenced him to 5.5 years in a strict regime colony and a 3-year ban on administering websites on the Internet. The court issued a sentence in combination with the previous punishment, for which Morozova was accused before this, is unknown.
