He also contacted Ukrainian state bodies for assistance in relocating, prepared documents for renouncing Russian citizenship, searched for routes through Turkey, and put his property up for sale. In his statement of renunciation of citizenship, Damirov wrote that he "never considered himself part of Russian society, as he "experienced only negativity, contempt, xenophobia, hatred, and envy from the indigenous population." He was unable to carry out his plan to the end, as he was detained. On July 21, 2023, the Sovetsky District Court of Orel sent the defendant in the case into custody.
