Case Description
In Melitopol, occupied Zaporizhzhia region, on April 25, 2022, 30-year-old Ukrainian citizen Pavel Kishenets was abducted. Russian security forces called him an 'SBU agent' and accused him of crimes of varying severity—from disclosing state secrets and theft to armed robbery, kidnapping, and murder. According to the Russian investigation, members of the Right Sector kidnapped and tortured the head of the administration of the village of Kirillovka in Zaporizhzhia Oblast, Yekaterina Umanets, because they considered her to be involved in organizing pro-Russian rallies in the region." Along with Kishintsy, another 119 people are involved in the case. According to the Russian special services, the leadership of the SBU required Kishintsa to regularly contact another member of the extremist organization Abakar Isayev, as well as engage in the preparation of riots. Kishinets allegedly, among other things, was involved in distributing certain SIM cards for mobile phones among Russian military personnel." The Melitopol Interdistrict Court issued an unknown verdict against 120 people, including Pavel Kishintz. The date of the verdict is unknown. There is no information about appealing the verdict. In August 2024, a second criminal case was opened against Kishintse. He was accused of participating in the activities of an extremist organization. According to the Russian investigation, the man was a member of the organization "Right Sector, which was included by the Ministry of Justice of the Russian Federation in the list of prohibited extremist associations and, by decision of the Supreme Court of the Russian Federation, was included in the list of terrorist organizations. 12 May 2025, the Leninsky District Court of Rostov-on-Don found Pavel Kishintz guilty and sentenced him to 4 years in a general regime colony, with a 6-month restriction of freedom. The court credited the term of serving the sentence at the rate of 1 day of detention for 1.5 days of serving the sentence in a general regime correctional colony. At the same time, the court credited the time Kishintse spent in the conditions of the FKU SIZO-2 of the GUFSIN of Russia in the Rostov Region "as a person opposing the special military operation" from March 8, 2023, and not from the actual day of his deprivation of liberty - April 25, 2022. On August 25, 2025, the Rostov Regional Court reduced the sentence by 2 months.
